Putting The "Why?" in Style

Sofia Greaves

I'm going to start this off by stating a fact.

While fashion is creative, it is still a business. All things creative have a business side.

Andy Warhol said it best: good business is the best art.

While I love talking about the colors on-trend at the moment and analyzing the personal styles of celebrities or fictional characters, I am always thinking about the Why. Why does this topic benefit people? Sometimes it is as simple as just answering with what is aesthetically pleasing about these outfits, but sometimes the "why" is about what's up next in fashion and how is it going to change.

I want my blog to be fun and digestible, but I want it to be more about reminding everybody that this industry can be more than just disposable. I want to make it known not only that these ideas do not become popular for no reason, but why they are relevant. Some are a direct response to a political event (for example cute loungewear sets in a time where legal stay-at-home orders are in place).

Every few posts I will try to link a video that inspired me that week. This week it is a video on Vogue with Anna Wintour talking about fashion week at a time where the Covid-19 pandemic was not a controlling factor in all of our sartorial consumption patterns
